“I never thought my future would come in a Starter Kit! But I know God led me to this opportunity. ”

An answered prayer. Independent Senior National Sales Director Dawn Dunn, the daughter of a pastor, planned a life of service in the mission field after college. As a newlywed, she dreamed of having four children and being with them as much as possible, combining motherhood with evangelism. A secular career never entered her mind, especially direct sales. Then an Independent Sales Director offered a free facial and she accepted help for her blotchy skin, a result of years of athletic fun in the sun. “I loved the product immediately and bought the Miracle Set,” she says. “But I turned down the offer to become an Independent Beauty Consultant just as fast.” The Sales Director left printed material with her nonetheless, and Dawn prayed about this new opportunity. Gradually she began to feel that the Mary Kay opportunity might be a way to combine her love of people with being home – and earning a living.

“I never thought my future would come in a Starter Kit!” she says. “But I know God led me to this opportunity. Mary Kay Ash’s priorities of God first, family second and career third dovetail perfectly with my own. The Mary Kay opportunity provides a positive environment that lets women grow. We can pick up our businesses or put them down for a while. We can learn new skills. Any woman can use a Mary Kay business as a vehicle to accomplish whatever she wants in life, or whatever is missing. I think about what it would be like in a normal company – few mentors, few encouragers to show the way and applaud when you arrive.”

Even when things got harried – Dawn had four children in five years – she persevered. “I was pregnant and nursing for years! Things looked unbelievable for a while, but I got through it. Challenge makes us stronger.”
