A new attitude.
Shy and scared, Independent Executive National Sales Director
Emeritus Wanda Dalby made a call that changed her life. She loved Mary Kay® products, but no one offered her the opportunity. “Once I had decided all by myself that the solution to my boredom was to go to work, I called to inquire about becoming an Independent Beauty Consultant,” she says.
That in itself took so much courage from a woman who didn’t believe in herself. “My husband at the time constantly reminded me of my shyness, lack of social skills and inability to sell,” Wanda recalls. “Knowing he was right made me feel awful. I suppose, in a way, that is what allowed my self-determination to surface.”
It took every effort for Wanda to approach people, but in time her attitude changed. Today, she is nothing like the scared woman of years ago. “If someone looks at the ‘me’ that exists today, she has no idea what it took on my part,” Wanda says. “I have been totally transformed by this opportunity.”
So with a new attitude, a different husband and new self-belief, Wanda
is a role model for other women looking for the strength and courage to change their own lives. “I think about how I used to live like a prisoner, and now I have so much independence,” Wanda says. “Thinking about my life today makes me smile.”
