Prioritizing the possibilities. Like
so many early Mary Kay pioneers, Independent Elite Executive National
Sales Director Emeritus Emily McLaughlin had the personal privilege
of knowing Mary Kay Ash. Mary Kay, a friend and mother figure to
many Independent National Sales Directors, shared her loving advice
every step of the way. And when Emily followed that advice, her
business soared.
“I have always worked to keep the priorities
in my life in order – God first, family second and career third,” Emily
says. “When for some reason these were not followed, I found my
business at a standstill.”
Emily almost let negativity stand in her way before becoming an
Independent Beauty Consultant. “I had so many objections, but then
I had not really listened to all the advantages of the business,” she
recalls. “I was so afraid of all the ‘what ifs’, that I had neglected
to realize all the possibilities.”
At her first Seminar, Emily finally began to see beyond the obstacles,
like Mary Kay encouraged. “When Mary Kay began to speak, I was
so impressed with the warmth and love that radiated from her, I
knew right then that I wanted to become an Independent Sales Director.
Instead of looking at my Mary Kay business with all the obstacles,
I began to take action and work around them.”
That change of attitude helped her build
a successful business. “I am so grateful that my life was touched
by Mary Kay,” Emily says. “The courage and determination with which
she led our great Company was wonderful. I consider it a special
privilege to have had her friendship as part of my life.”
