“I never wanted diamonds. I just wanted quality of life and a chance to run the victory lap.”

“V” for victory. Independent Senior National Sales Director Emeritus, Cindy Williams, says the Mary Kay opportunity was the perfect environment for her competitive spirit. "I never wanted diamonds. I just wanted quality of life and a chance to run the victory lap."

When Cindy was named Queen of Unit Sales at the annual Mary Kay Seminar in 1998, she made sure her boys stood with her on the stage in Dallas. "They saw me working my business at home, but they didn't know what it was for. It was important to me for them to experience my victory and understand that consistent, persistent work pays off."

Cindy’s “V for victory” hand sign became her classic personal trademark as she excelled to the pinnacle of success, and beyond, in her Mary Kay business, as an Independent Senior National Sales Director and member of the elite Inner Circle multiple times.

According to Cindy, she didn't set out to become an Independent Senior National Sales Director. Instead, she simply worked to be the best she could personally be, each and every day. "I always told people to 'suit up and show up, and you'll go up' in this business. People usually don't want to do the day-to-day work – they think there is a secret formula to success. But daily discipline will get you there in spite of your fears and inadequacies. Just ask me … if you do the daily work that most people don't want to do, you can be successful," Cindy still says!

Looking back, Cindy says, “When I submitted my Agreement at age 25, my dream was to grow into all I believe God created me to be. My Mary Kay business grew me exceeding and abundantly more than I could have hoped for imagined. On my sales force leadership journey, I was surrounded by the most positive, powerful women on earth. That circle of influence transformed my life, externally, internally and eternally. The personal growth and friendships I obtained were a dream come true.”

Continuing her legacy of victory, Cindy says, “It’s not what happens to us; it is how we respond. We can become bitter or better … frustrated or fascinated … victim or victor … I CHOOSE VICTORY! In other words, LOVE AND LEAD. Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Lead by example. Grow into all God created you to be.”

When asked what’s next for her as an Emeritus, Cindy said, “I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future. All I have to do is trust and obey. I believe the rest of my life is the best of my life. I wait in joyful anticipation!”

When asked what leadership skills she carries with her into the next chapter and her future, Cindy profoundly reflected, “People rarely get what they want, but they almost always get what they expect. What we think about, we bring about. Words have life; so, change your words and change your world. As Mary Kay Ash said, ‘Around here, we’re realists … we expect a miracle every day.’”

There will never be another quite like the unquenchable victor, Independent Senior National Sales Director Emeritus, Cindy Williams!
