  • What is Mary Kay's Product Repurchase Policy?

The Repurchase Policy is described in the Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement ("Agreement') and covers the return of both a Starter Kit and Section 1 products.

With regards to the return of a Starter Kit, section B.5 of the Agreements provides that the Company agrees: "to accept Consultant's cancellation of the Agreement within thirty (30) days after acceptance of the Agreement by Company, and upon return of Consultant's original and unused Starter Kit to Company, to refund to Consultant the Consultant's cost of the Starter Kit; or if Agreement is terminated and Consultant's original and unused Starter Kit is returned to Company after the cancellation period and within one (1) year of purchase, to repurchase such Starter Kit at ninety percent (90%) of Consultant's original net cost.

With regards to the return of Section 1 products, section B.6 of the Agreements provides that the Company agrees "to repurchase, upon termination of this Agreement, at ninety percent (90%) of Consultant's original net cost, original and unused Section 1 products, provided such items were purchased by Consultant from Company within one (1) year prior to return".

  • Can I share information about Mary Kay's Repurchase Policy with potential team members?

Yes. In fact, we think it is important to share the policy with potential team members and existing unit members. Our Repurchase policy was pioneered by Mary Kay Ash because she believed that people who tried direct selling, and then later determined it wasn't for them, should have a way to recover most of their investment and still leave with good feelings about their experience. However, it is important that you share the Repurchase Policy accurately and in its entirety. Sharing the Repurchase Policy is also a great way to give potential team members confidence in their decision to start a Mary Kay business.

  • Is Mary Kay required by law to have a Repurchase Policy?

Mary Kay is not required by law to have a Repurchase Policy. However, the Repurchase Policy is a requirement for member companies of the Direct Selling Association, of which Mary Kay is a proud and long standing member. Mary Kay Ash helped pioneer this policy with the Direct Selling Association in the 1970s. For more information about the Direct Selling Association, please visit www.dsa.org.

  • How can I initiate the Repurchase process?

To initiate a repurchase, you should contact the Company to obtain a Request for Repurchase form by calling 800-272-9333; press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish; then press 9 followed by 2 for the Repurchase Department.

After completing and signing the Request for Repurchase form, you should send it to the Mary Kay Repurchase Department along with the Starter Kit or Section 1 products that you are returning. These items must be shipped freight prepaid.

  • What products are eligible for Repurchase?

Any original, unused and unopened Section 1 products that you return within one (1) year of purchase from the Company.

  • How will I know which products are eligible for repurchase by the Company?

After you initiate the Repurchase process, the Company will send you a Repurchase Part Detail Report with a list of every Section 1 product that you purchased from the Company within the last year that would be eligible for repurchase provided the products are unopened and unused.

  • Will the Company return product to me if it is not eligible for repurchase?

No. As noted in the repurchase form, any products returned to the Company that are not eligible for repurchase in accordance with the Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement will be deemed abandoned and subject to the Company's disposition. Therefore, you'll want to ensure that you only return products that are eligible for repurchase.

  • How is the refund calculated?

You will receive 90 percent of the original net cost of eligible product returns. This means that if the cost of the product has increased in the year since you bought it, you will be reimbursed on the original price, not the new, higher price.

In addition, the refund amount is subject to other potential deductions. As described in section B.7 of the Agreement, "Consultant agrees that Company's cost of any prizes or product bonuses awarded to Consultant or credits applied to product orders because of the original purchase and any indebtedness Consultant owes Company will be deducted from the repurchase amount."

  • How long will it take for me to receive my Repurchase check after I mail in my Request for Repurchase form and products?

The standard processing time for repurchase is approximately 4-6 weeks from the date the product is received at the Company's Repurchase Department in Dallas, Texas. Please know that if you ship your products to another Company facility, this will delay the processing of your repurchase.

  • Can Mary Kay issue my repurchase check in someone else's name or does it have to be made payable to me?

You can complete the alternate payee's information on the Request for Repurchase form and designate to whom you want the check to be payable. However, before the Company can honor such a request, this portion on the form must be notarized before submitting it to the Company.

  • Can I return products under the Repurchase Policy, but still continue my Mary Kay business?

No. You can only return products for repurchase upon the termination of your Agreements with the Company.

  • If I return products to the Company for repurchase, will I be eligible to become a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant in the future?

No. If an Independent Beauty Consultant returns a Starter Kit or Section 1 products to the Company for repurchase, she/he is no longer eligible to become a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant in the future.
