From trials to triumph. As a child in Mexico, Independent National Sales Director Maribel Barajas sold homemade bread and handiwork to help her family get ahead. After they immigrated to the U.S., Maribel began working in factories. Hard work and struggle were a way of life.
But Maribel always had strong role models to follow. “My mother was so determined, making the best of whatever we had to raise her eight children,” she recalls. “I’m fortunate wherever I find myself, I always have someone who loves me.”
But Maribel’s lack of education and self esteem almost stopped her from pursuing a Mary Kay business. “When I started, I didn’t know how to use a calculator,” she says. “Today, I order products from the Company online.”
With loving guidance from Independent Executive National Sales Director Lupita Ceballos, with whom she’s shared many ups and downs, Maribel found the courage to become a role model herself. And that’s what she enjoys most – showing humble, hard working Hispanic women in her National area that they are worthwhile and can achieve their dreams.
Her supportive husband, José Ramón, manages their family affairs. Children, Alma Yadira, José Ramón Jr., and Carlos Antonio, as well as Maribel’s extended family, have all experienced the financial and emotional rewards of her successful Mary Kay business.
Maribel, who never forgets where she came from, says, “When you take Mary Kay Ash’s mission and make it your own, you will see entire families being enriched.”
