You can have it all. "If you give it all you’ve got, you will have it all," says Independent Elite Executive National Sales Director Emeritus Gloria Mayfield Banks.

As an MBA graduate of Harvard University Business School and a former employee in corporate America, Gloria became an Independent Beauty Consultant to potentially earn extra money. Gloria says, "I stayed with my Mary Kay business because of the recognition, and it turned into something I wanted and loved. The rewards have far exceeded my expectations, but it is a business based on hard work and disciplined choices.” Gloria is where she always dreamed she’d be, personally and professionally. And, despite obstacles and hardships, Gloria is an overcomer. As a dyslexic child, she beat those odds, graduating from Harvard. As a wife in an unhealthy marriage, she survived divorce and being a single parent for seven years.

“Many years ago, I specifically and intentionally designed my life dream,” Gloria says. Her plan for how to achieve that dream? She would realize her own dream by “greatly impacting others to get what they wanted and help develop them to become who they imagined themselves to be.” Gloria also wanted to speak, teach, and inspire on a world-wide scale as her family grew stronger in love and respect and as she enjoyed the journey. “And that is exactly what my Mary Kay journey allowed me to do,” Gloria affirms.

Now, she advises Independent Beauty Consultants, "The lessons you learn to become successful with a Mary Kay business are life lessons, as well. If you give up on your Mary Kay business too soon or too early, then you give up on the other things you want most in your life." Gloria’s dream for her National Area and spheres of influence were no different. “We cultivated a strong place of winning, embracing independent sales and having a record-breaking attitude. We always said, ‘Be courageous enough to do the ridiculous so that you can experience the miraculous.’ I genuinely believe they are positioned to continue the momentum of an incredible, strong, winning spirit that is contagious for other people who join their team,” Gloria expounds.

Now, having achieved that record-breaking dream in almost every Mary Kay realm, Gloria looks to what’s next for her and has a new dream as an NSD Emeritus. She explains it like this: “When I started my Mary Kay business I had to create my ‘Next’. I spent the next 30-plus years helping other women create their ‘Next’. That is what I am going to continue to do in other realms. I know I am called to take women from ordinary to extraordinary. However they choose to define their ‘Next’ … that is where I will show up!”
