Discovering
her destiny. Finding the best career for herself was quite a challenge for Independent
Elite Executive National Sales Director Emeritus Anita Mallory. She started out as a kindergarten teacher. In the middle of all that and while teaching evening courses in self-improvement and fashion to women, she discovered the Mary Kay opportunity.
“I had never sold anything, but it seemed to be a part of my destiny,” Anita says.
Anita is the perfect example of someone who built her Mary Kay business while working full time. “I held three to five classes a week after school and on weekends.” At the time, there were only three other Independent Beauty Consultants in all of Minnesota. What’s more, Anita drove to her skin care classes in a Volkswagen Beetle with no heater.
With a huge challenge ahead of her, she was determined to become an Independent Sales Director. “I made so many mistakes,” she recalls. “I remember looking at each order and wondering if I would quit after I sold it.” Overcoming many obstacles, she reached her goal and helped other top Independent National Sales Directors reach theirs as well.
“I thank Mary Kay Ash from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful way to help others and this fantastic opportunity to develop myself,” she says. Her favorite words of wisdom: “You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving.”
As an NSD Emeritus, Anita will be supporting fundraising efforts for a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that has affected one of her own family. The leadership lessons she carries with her into the next phase show the confidence that was built through her Mary Kay journey. “I learned to believe in myself. I am not afraid. I know everything will work out all right,” Anita says.
