“By being consistent, I proved that the Mary Kay opportunity is exactly what I was told it was: a path to success!”

Persistent Consistency. When Independent National Sales Director Leah Lauchlan was offered the Mary Kay opportunity, she jumped at the chance. The first-year school teacher was attracted to the financial potential, but couldn’t help thinking, “Is this for real?” Through her commitment to hold skin care parties on the weekends when she wasn’t teaching, Leah stepped out of her comfort zone and realized that there was so much more packed in her starter kit.

“I used to be very shy and didn’t realize my full potential,” Leah shares. "My Mary Kay business has taught me that success isn't about financial abundance, but about living a life of abundance in all areas - family, relationships, opportunities, emotionally, spiritually - it's the whole picture!" Leah also loves the camaraderie she enjoys with the women of her National Area. She says, “We’re great friends who challenge and celebrate each other!”

The close relationship Leah shares with Independent Executive National Sales Director Pamela Waldrop Shaw is one that she never expected. “She lives a life of excellence in every way,” Leah says. “She taught me to work on purpose – that time spent doing one thing is time away from another and that you can’t live your values until you know what they are.” Leah strives to be intentional and to put the things that matter most in her life first – God and her family; husband, Cliff, son, Ian and daughter, Aria. Another source of personal influence in Leah’s life is that of her Independent Senior National Sales Director, Julia Burnett. “Julia leads by example," Leah observes. “She also lives a life of excellence, not only with her Mary Kay business, but in every area of life – that’s a true leader! Something I’ve learned from Julia which has always inspired me is that ‘confident women raise confident children.’ I’m grateful to have learned that from her.”

What Leah values most about the Mary Kay opportunity is that it has unleashed endless potential in her life, as well as incredible relationships and experiences. “When I first started out, I consistently tried to prove that the opportunity wasn’t what everyone said it was. I consistently booked skin care classes. I consistently worked my business and consistently followed Julia’s lead. By being consistent, I proved that the Mary Kay opportunity is exactly what I was told it was: a path to success!” And she’s eager to pass it on.
