“It is not about you; it is about the person in front of you – every day!”

Her homework paid off. Independent National Sales Director Emeritus Deb Pike had two very different lives. Her pre-Mary Kay business life was as a quiet schoolteacher, comfortable before her class only after she had bonded one-on-one with all her students. She didn’t wear makeup. She’d never been to a skin care class or been offered a facial, but she’d heard of Mary Kay Ash and had great respect for the Company’s Founder. “I got a copy of the marketing plan from someone I knew,” she says. “I loved it the minute I saw it.” At the time, Deb was juggling three jobs and planned to balance her Mary Kay business on her plate of part-time employment. “Before I knew it, I was working my Mary Kay business full-time and became a Mary Kay Independent Sales Director.”

Just as the turn in Deb’s business surprised her, so did her blossoming confidence. “In my former life, I was extremely uncomfortable in front of people. This opportunity puts us in situations where we overcome shyness. The Mary Kay opportunity is a vehicle for growth.”

As an Emeritus, Deb still takes pleasure in coaching women who are just like she was – those who are hesitant outside their comfort zones. “Leadership will always be in me now, whether I am leading a life group at my church, leading an army of volunteers or just sharing Mary Kay Ash wisdom and love with anyone I am with on any given day!” Deb explains.

To a new Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, she says, “Show up at every single event. You will learn the ONE THING that will propel you forward. To new Mary Kay Independent Sales Directors, Deb encourages you to “think big and do big. Stretch yourself to build your unit size to 100 and beyond! From there, the sky is the limit!”

Deb says that she loves the Company, the Mary Kay staff and her sister Independent National Sales Directors with all her heart and leaves us with these thoughts. “Do that which is right and that which is right will be yours. It is not about you; it is about the person in front of you – every day! I know only great things are ready to happen! The best is yet to come. There’s nothing else like the Mary Kay opportunity!”
