“I started this business because of the hope that it would allow me to be an active part of my child’s life. I didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk, watching someone else raise my daughter.”

More than Good Enough. Independent National Sales Director Crystal Trojanowski’s first time around as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant was at the age of 18, because a friend signed up and she thought it sounded fun, so she signed up, too. Crystal remembers she did well in her Mary Kay business and believes it led her to find her passion in skin care. “I grew up with really bad acne,” Crystal says, “which led to very low self-esteem. I knew that having great skin could lead to a higher self-esteem, so I actually went to school and became an Aesthetician.” Although she found that skin care parties were fun, Crystal wasn’t very connected to an Independent Sales Director, a core group of women or meetings, so her Mary Kay business went by the wayside after a time and she went on with her life. Ten years later, Crystal was re-introduced to the Mary Kay opportunity at a transitional time in her life. She was going back to a corporate job after having her first baby. “I really wanted to be able to earn enough income to quit my job and work from home. So, I seized the opportunity again.” This time, she understood the big picture and was driven with focus and direction, because she had a “why”.

Her first Seminar memory of a new Independent National Sales Director debuting on stage gave Crystal that emotional tangibility and visual she needed to be able to picture herself in that moment. “However, I definitely wouldn’t be here now if not for my mentor, Independent Senior National Sales Director Lia Carta. She was the one who breathed belief into me and helped me see further than I ever possibly could have seen on my own. She painted the vision and played a huge role in leading me through, step by step,” Crystal explains.

Today, Crystal and her husband, Ryan, are raising two children, Emma June and Crew, with Crystal working from home, just as she dreamed. Crystal says her success with her Mary Kay business has allowed her to see herself for what she truly always was, but didn’t believe – “as good enough and able to achieve and accomplish good things.” Her past was filled with obstacles, which strengthened her into becoming fighter, and Crystal believes that learned persistence has contributed to her success. She wasn’t willing to give up on what she wanted.

And so, the L.U.V. National Area was born: Love, Unity and Victory are its hashtags. Crystal feels compelled by an internal obligation to step into what she believes is the calling on her life “and it has been discovered through my Mary Kay business,” she declares. “I believe in loving people. Showing love allows them to soar. A sense of belonging and unity are what people often lack, yet need. So, I’m building a platform. Everyone who comes into our area knows it’s a safe place where they can overcome those insecurities with a victory in their Mary Kay businesses. There’s so much self-growth that comes from a Mary Kay business,” Crystal shares. She’s living proof. Her passion is “to pass on that self-growth and purpose to help others create their dream life through the Mary Kay opportunity.”

Crystal Trojanowski and the L.U.V. Area of women she leads are testimonies to the fact that the Mary Kay legacy lives on. The empowerment and enrichment of women’s lives is our past, our present and it appears to be in our future, as far as Crystal can see and, in turn, paint the picture for others to see.
