Belief in self. Independent National Sales Director Tammy Vavala is a disciplined, consistent, determined woman who has a love for people and watching them grow. From a young age, adversity was the preparation that had a huge impact on how to form good habits, keep going and run her Mary Kay business. Tammy says, “The missing ingredient that took me from zero to hero was the ultimate gift of belief in self. It was a gift from God and all I needed. So, the secret to my success was faith, coupled with consistency and serving.”
“Since I’ve been able to come alongside them more, it’s amazing how people step up when you believe in them. I try to give them exactly what I would want given, despite what they are able to give back.” Tammy says not to change who you are. “Doing the best I can and being proud of it…that’s my responsibility. How people respond to it is up to them. I love them where they are – whether they stay, go or come back.”
Tammy’s children were her “why,” in the beginning, so she could be a work from home mom. “My husband, Francis, is so supportive. He lets me fly and not everyone has that in a spouse.” Her early years of tutoring and her mother’s unwavering belief taught Tammy that memorization and habit could overcome seemingly unattainable things, even graduating with honors and a master’s degree! “Create a habit and it becomes you,” Tammy says, “Your personality comes through when you have the basics down and you then have the confidence to be yourself.”
Her Independent Senior National Sales Director Cindy Williams is the leader Tammy says she aspires to be. “Watching her work, her joy, her unconditional love and her energy… Cindy knows how to make people feel important. I’d love to be exactly like that.”
As a leader, Tammy says she now works from abundance. “I see everyone as the best they can be. I say, ‘There’s no reason we can’t start now to help you get to the top’ and whatever their strengths are, I say, ‘let’s do more of that’ to get there!” The true miracle is like the one that happened to Tammy, when the belief transfers to the tiny little rosebud who is given permission to blossom and grow with her unique, God-given strengths.
